It's been a difficult week for Lisa with increased leg pain. It's been very difficult for her to even just get around the house. She uses a cane, or sometimes moves around the house supporting herself on pieces of furniture as she moves by them. One of the oncology nurses said that they call that "wall walking". In the kitchen, she gets around by rolling herself in her desk chair.
If the pain is indeed caused by inflammation around the bone damage done by cancer, but the cancer either is being killed or has been killed, then the bone damage is residual, and keeping her weight off of it more of the time can help it heal more quickly. Right now this has been the worst of Lisa's recent symptoms, since everything else is improving.
Lisa started taking some low dose steroid pills and a muscle relaxant in addition to her low dose pain medicine, and she's doing a little bit better today and is at least able to find a comfortable position while laying down.
