Lisa did have her chemo treatment yesterday.  The doctor said he was rather surprised about how well the steroids had worked on Lisa's lymphedema... she'd lost 15 pounds of fluid in 6 days, and for most people steroids have very little effect on lymphedema at all.  He commented that's just another example of how Lisa's case is "not at all usual".  During the discussion, he said that after three more chemo treatments, if the PET/CT scan that follows shows continuing improvement, he'd probably suggest at least a short break from chemo to see how Lisa does, and to let us see if the chemo is aggravating her lymphedema, along with possibly causing what's called "radiation recall" which is an aggravation of an area that's been previously radiated, where it responds as if radiation is a current treatment.

One other thing the doctor said is that even though the current chemo is working exceptionally well, most cancer is "smart" and eventually figures out how to grow despite the chemicals being thrown at it, and he actually expects Lisa's cancer would return at some point.  We're praying that Lisa's cancer is "stupid" and gets completely obliterated before it is able to mutate.
