Today we start at the cancer institute at 7:40am, and though we may get a lunch break, we'll likely not be finished with all of the treatments until around 3pm. As mentioned on Wednesday, the entire morning will be taken up with the INFed iron infusion.
Lisa has been having sporadic chest pains in the area of the tumor, and sometimes has difficulty swallowing. The swallowing issue was expected, since her esophagus is in the area being radiation and we knew it was likely to get irritated. She has been given what they call "Magic Mouthwash", which is a pharmacy mix of liquid Xylocaine (or Lidocaine), Benadryl, and Maalox in equal portions. She is supposed to swish and gargle with it for one minute before actually swallowing it to coat her esophagus.
Update: There were no problems with the iron infusion, but it made for another very long day at the cancer center. Lisa was there at 7:40am, and didn't get home until almost 4pm. Here at 6pm she's in bed asleep.
Later: Lisa has felt poorly all evening, with a very bad headache as well as lesser pains and discomfort in other areas.
