"More Power To Ya"

We got electricity back around 1:00 A.M. here in the wee hours of Monday morning, which had been out for us and others in most of northern Alabama since last Wednesday's storms.  We had no damage here other than a couple of broken treebranches, and feel grateful and blessed... over 400 died in the storms, with nearly 2000 injured, and hundreds of homes obliterated.  We've been fine with candles, flashlights, and my camp stove.  On day 5 without electricity (yesterday), we did buy a generator.  I figured that buying one and hooking it up virtually assured that power would be restored by the city within hours -- which is exactly what happened!  :-)

We'd had no telephone service in the beginning (neither landlines nor cell) and drove to the cancer center last Thursday for Lisa's injection and radiation treatment because we couldn't get in touch with them.  The sign on the door said that they were only doing one type of injection and one other procedure, and all others would be suspended until power returned.  That means Lisa missed two of her scheduled treatments, which will likely be tacked on at the tail end.  She's felt A LOT better without the treatments, which has helped with all we've had to do to cope without electricity for so long.  They start this afternoon again, though.
