Lisa had her final radiation treatment today. Now she has at least a month of recovery. The expectation is that her side-effects will actually get a little worse for the next week, level off for another several days, and then we'll start to see good improvement.
Why worse first, since the treatments are over? It's a bit like getting too much sun... your sunburn will develop and get worse for a day or two even after you come indoors. It's similar for radiation effects, but unfortunately they're a lot more intense.
Please pray for a rapid recovery and minimal discomfort, pain and fatigue. Instead of the planned 6-day dose of steroids, she's being given a lower dose longer and with a slow taper-off -- for a total of 17 days -- so that should help.
