We went to the cardiac specialist to discuss the details of last week's overnight monitoring of Lisa's heart. They did a fresh EKG and the doctor listened to Lisa's heart. He said that Lisa's heart is still healthy in every way they can check. The PVC occurrences, though annoying (she had 400 of them in that 24-hour monitoring period), is not any kind of health risk. Lisa's higher heart rate is likely a result of the inflammation due to the chest radiation as well as compensating for Lisa's slight anemia, but her rhythms are good. It was all good news!
He prescribed a very mild beta-blocker that Lisa can try if she decides that the PVC bothers her "enough". Low dose beta-blockers are virtually without problem side-effects. He said, "At that low dose, it will still probably help you, but it certainly isn't going to hurt you" and he suggested that she indeed give it a try for at least a few days.
She's decided that she probably won't... at least not for now. She hates taking medicines unless absolutely necessary!
