We got a phone call today from the gastroenterologist's office... they got the pathology report on the biopsies that were taken, and "atypical cells" were found, suspicious for cancer, but not definitively so. He wanted us to come in, but we told his office that we already have an appointment scheduled with the oncologist this afternoon, so to please pass the report along and we'll get the results from the oncologist.
We did meet with the oncologist this afternoon, and he said that if we were to go in for more biopsies, they *might* be able to tell more, but it's not worth doing because it wouldn't change treatment options at this point anyway. In his opinion, because Lisa's stomach lining has no sores or tumors visible, this is unlikely to be any indication of stomach cancer, and if the atypical cells found in the pathology evaluation are indeed cancerous cells, they're lung cancer cells that have settled there but not shown significant growth.
Because of this and Lisa's recent symptoms -- including her resting heartrate being high again for the last several days -- a diagnostic CT (with contrast) is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, and an appointment with the oncologist on Friday to get the results.
