PRAISE:  The brain scan showed clear again.

We were at the cancer center for a total of 5 hours, and the chemo infusion was made with no problems.  Lisa's pre-chemo blood work shows her red cell and iron counts are low, so they'll be checked regularly, especially since this chemo can make the red cell count go even lower (resulting in more fatigue).  Lisa goes back on Friday for a pre-weekend infusion of just fluids (saline) to help her have less likelihood of other side effects from the chemo.

We also got results of the "HER-2" protein mutation we'd requested for a potential targeted therapy, though it's more commonly used in breast cancer patients rather than patients with Lisa's type of lung cancer (NSCLC). The HER-2 protein is rare, but when found in lung cancer patients, they're usually women who have never smoked, so we figured it was worth checking. Similar to the EGFR and ALK protein tests we did back in August, Lisa was negative (she doesn't have it) so she isn't eligible for those newer targeted therapies.
