Lisa is in substantial pain this afternoon, even after upping her pain meds back to her old dosage. The doctor said it could be a short-term reaction to the radiation. Bone pain is caused by the cancer cells displacing bone (making it want to 'swell') and radiation often causes the cancer cells themselves to swell up before they die, which makes the situation worse before it gets better. And then there's Xgeva in the mix, but it tends to give more of an "ache" for a few days rather than this kind of sharp pain.
