Lisa has been in pain all day and can't get comfortable. She involuntarily calls out "ow" or other variations whenever she shifts position even when laying in bed or on the couch. She's had to use the cane anytime she's had to walk at all today including for the blood tests at the cancer center... it's the first time she's used a cane in there. Lisa has swelling of her right leg, but also her abdomen asymmetrically on that same side and we made a point of seeing the doctor's nurse-practitioner (the doctor is away on travel) after the blood tests. She sees what we see, but doesn't know what's causing it either. The important elements of the bloods tests were all ok too. We'll have to wait for the PET/CT scan results... if they show that everything "looks good" (is stable or improving) then we'll have to go to a different orthopedic specialist since the pain and swelling wouldn't be directly caused by the cancer. Even though we already know from the MRI that things are improving in the chest, if the PET/CT shows more cancer activity in the leg and hip (which is unlikely, but still possible), then we'll be starting radiation on the leg again.
With Lisa's pain level and difficulty with that leg, we're concerned about her being able to stay in position for the PET/CT scans tomorrow, but we'll make the best of it, probably with a higher dose of pain meds.
She took additional pain meds this afternoon, which have helped some now... she's been sleeping off and on since 7pm (it's 11:45pm as I'm updating this).
